Welcome to Arcade Overview, sister-site to Xbox Overview, providing reviews of a reasonable length while taking a look back at some of the arcade classics of yesterday both to see how good they were back when they came out and how they hold up in the modern era of gaming. There were a ton of games released exclusively in the arcades, many of which are often forgotten but still worth your attention.
This site (I know it's a blog, but I treat this thing like a site so I'm calling it that) was initially founded due to the heavy amount of arcade ports I wound up covering for the Xbox site. There was enough overlap that I decided to create Arcade Overview, giving me an opportunity to look at some of the titles that never made it out of the arcade or onto an Xbox console. At the very least, I'd like to hopefully make you aware of a few awesome arcade titles that you overlooked...welcome to Arcade Overview!
A Little Bit About the Author...
Born in the early
'80s, I had the chance to experience a decent chunk of the arcade
scene first-hand. The resurgence of arcades in the early '90s with the
fighting game craze was one of the most memorable moments (we'll get
into that at some point later on down the line). To a kid in the '80s or '90s, the
arcade felt like a magical place, featuring games that felt light years ahead
of the stuff I could play at home. While I hold many cherished memories
and the arcade scene in general holds a lot of nostalgic value to me,
many of these games still hold up even without the nostalgia trip and
are still a blast to play to this day.
